Westwood tennis continues dominance
AUSTIN, Texas (BVM) — In 2020, the Westwood High School Warriors struck gold at the University Interscholastic League (UIL) 6A State Championship. After winning their second championship in three years, the tennis team continued their winning ways in the spring.
“We are so proud of the Westwood Tennis team and their achievements this season,” Westwood principal Mario Acosta said in a press release. “This team continues to propel the tradition of excellence for our campus and their state champion title is the result of their hard work and dedication.”

The Spring 2021 UIL State Tennis Tournament focuses on the play of the individual rather than the team.
Those that came away with top prizes were Daniel Antov and Marko Mesarovic, who earned a state title in boys doubles. Sachchit Sivaram and Kinna Graham have also been crowned champions in mixed doubles.
Jessica Lu was awarded the United States Tennis Association (UTSA) Sportsmanship award after the tournament concluded.
“I’m just so proud of these kids,” Westwood Tennis Coach Travis Dalrymple said in a press release.” They worked so hard this year, and when the pressure was the biggest, they played their best. They played such a high level of tennis and represented the school so well in true Warrior fashion. To win two gold medals in one year is unheard of, and these students did it!”
