FGCU adds Houston transfer Molly Murray

FORT MYERS, Fla. (BVM) — The Florida Gulf Coast women’s golf program is going to add some incoming talent after the transfer announcement of rising redshirt freshman Molly Murray. The former University of Houston golfer will join the Eagles’ program for the upcoming fall season.

Murray will join the team after redshirting for the Cougars during her true freshman season. The former prep star led Boyd High School in McKinney, Texas, to back-to-back appearances in the Texas State Championship in 2018 and 2019.

“We are very excited to welcome Molly to the FGCU family this fall,” head coach Sarah Trew said. “Over the course of the last few months that I have gotten to know Molly, she has demonstrated a tremendous work ethic and desire to improve her game. She is one of those players that will stop at nothing to better herself. Molly is also a wonderful teammate as she is able to get along with everyone – she will certainly be a great fit here.”

Along with her team success in high school, Murray would shine individually, collecting all-district honors in 2018 while picking up multiple wins on NTPGA tour and several top-five finishes at TJGT tournaments. The incoming freshman will join some other notable additions in freshmen Anouk Casty and Posie Farrelly.

Murray will be looking to have a similar impact at the collegiate level as she gets prepared for the fall season.
