Naz Reid enters free agency; Top 5 landing spots
MINNEAPOLIS – Naz Reid will be an unrestricted free agent this summer and will have plenty of suitors once NBA free agency begins on June 30.
The 23-year-old center put together his best NBA season in 2022-23 while playing a unique role with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Seeing action in 68 games last season (starting 11), the 6-foot-9 Reid began the campaign by playing inconsistent minutes but injuries to both of the Timberwolves’ starting big men – Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert – helped him blossom.
Reid averaged a career-high 11.5 points on 53.7% shooting and 4.9 rebounds in just 18.4 minutes. The versatile center showcased his ability to play alongside Towns or Gobert, allowing the Wolves to play two-big lineups, as well as play off of Anthony Edwards.

A 28-point performance against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Dec. 16 as well as a 27-point, 13-rebound game against the Dallas Mavericks just three days later are evidence of Reid’s explosiveness. Reid suffered a broken wrist in late March, however, and missed the final five games of the regular season in addition to Minnesota’s first-round series against the Denver Nuggets.
Nonetheless, the speed, ball handling, shooting and upside of Reid will entice him to a handful of NBA teams looking to improve this offseason if the Wolves are unable to retain him.
With that in mind, here are five possible landing spots for Reid via free agency.
