Alannah Yip fails to make podium in sport climbing Olympic event in Tokyo

NORTH VANCOUVER, British Columbia — Canada’s Alannah Yip missed out of award ceremony after missing the cut for the ladies’ game climbing last at the Tokyo Olympics earlier this summer.

The local of North Vancouver finished No. 14 with a consolidated score of 1,152 and didn’t progress to the last, eight-contender round.

Yip, a non-speed trained professional, started solid, getting sixth in the initial contest. Her hands right away shooting high up in the event, having vaulted herself up the divider in 7.99 seconds in both her second and third speed climbs. The expansive grin on the 27-year-old’s face was all that anyone could need to tell the story.

A bouldering subject matter expert, Yip, shockingly, battled in the second part of the opposition. On occasion seeming baffled, she oversaw zero tops and just two endeavored zones.

The sixteenth spot result was disillusioning for the Canadian who completed seventh at the 2019 big showdowns.

In lead, where competitors have six minutes to move as high as possible on a 15-meter divider, Yip kept on battling. She oversaw 21 or more moves before losing her hold on an endeavored squeeze to complete the twelfth.

Detecting her opposition was done, Yip waved her appreciation to the group before going to the camera with hands shaped into a heart.

“It was a thrill ride,” Yip said after the competition. “I can be content for certain things and not as satisfied with different things.

Most importantly, Yip said, “What I truly trust from this is that tons more individuals on the planet consider moving to be a genuine game. At the point when I began, it was this unusual periphery sport … presently, we’re in the Olympics.”
