Corner Canyon football 48 straight wins

DRAPER, Utah — With a 56-0 win over Westlake on Friday, the Corner Canyon Chargers have won 48 straight football games, tying a Utah state record.

According to the Deseret News, it’s the second-longest streak in the country behind Fyffe, Alabama, which has won 51 straight games.

Corner Canyon last lost a game on Nov. 9, 2018, a state semifinal loss to Skyridge by a 34-33 score.

Since then, the Chargers have reeled off 48 straight wins. That includes three straight undefeated seasons ending in state championships and an eight-game win streak to begin 2021.

Of those 48 wins, just four have been one-possession games: a 29-26 win over Skyridge on Oct. 8, 2020, a 21-17 win over Lone Peak on Sept. 27, 2019 and wins of 28-20 and 20-15 over Jordan and Olympus in 2018.

The Chargers have a chance to set the state record against Lone Peak on Thursday, a home game beginning at 7 p.m. Lone Peak is 4-2 in 2021, coming off a 14-9 loss to Skyridge on Friday.

After Friday’s game, the Chargers will finish the regular season with Pleasant Grove on the road before playoffs begin.
