RALEIGH, N.C. (BVM) — When asked about pro basketball and its history, it might be a while before fans mention Raleigh or North Carolina (except if you’re a “One Tree Hill” fan). The current Charlotte Hornets — originally the Charlotte Bobcats — returned to the NBA in 2004, after the Hornets originally played in the Tar Heel State from 1988-2002 before moving to New Orleans and later became the Pelicans, and weren’t very good their first few seasons.
North Carolina and the Raleigh metro area might not have the most storied basketball history, but it certainly boasts plenty of NBA players who played their high school basketball years there. These are the top 10.
