Top 5 NBA draft fits for 7-foot-4 Purdue center Zach Edey

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (BVM) – Just a few years ago, Zach Edey was a raw 7-foot-3 prospect from Canada who wasn’t receiving much college interest. Edey has turned himself into a household name since and is now one of the more intriguing prospects available in the 2024 NBA Draft.

Edey landed at Purdue after playing at IMG Academy in Florida and made an immediate impact as a large post presence in West Lafayette, following in the footsteps of former Purdue centers like Isaac Haas and Matt Haarms. However, Edey took his game to another level beginning in his junior year as he averaged over 22 points and nearly 13 rebounds en route to national player of the year honors.

Despite some draft buzz, Edey returned to Purdue for his senior season and got even better, averaging 25.2 points, 12.2 rebounds and 2.2 blocks, simply dominating his competition as he earned national player of the year honors for the second year in a row and led the Boilermakers to the national championship game.

While Edey was tremendous at the collegiate level, questions remain regarding how his game will translate to the pros. The 7-foot-4, 299-pound center has answered some of those questions while boosting his draft stock throughout the past month or so with a nice showing at the draft combine and some strong pre-draft workouts.

That has many projecting Edey to be taken at some point in the first round with a chance that he even rises into the lottery as several teams are likely intrigued by his size and potential going forward. Here are the top five fits for Edey in the 2024 NBA Draft.
