She has been cheerleading for ten years all together. Abigayle achieved one of her personal goals in cheerleading this year at The Cheerleading Worlds at ESPN in Florida. Her and her team are now bronze world champions. For those of you that do not know, The Cheerleading Worlds is like the super bowl of cheerleading. We asked Abigayle what she loves about her sport, and this is what she had to say, “I love that it’s a team sport. Especially in stunting. You have 3-4 people all working together to hold a stunt in the air. You have very little room for mistakes, so you have to have that certain level of trust with each other that you aren’t going to drop your flyer. I feel like that level of trust within each other brings the team so much closer together.” She also says that being a part of this team has really taught her how to work well with others. A challenge that Abigayle talked about was stunting technique. Without the right technique injuries can happen very easily and quickly. If you come out of a tumbling pass short or you miss a grip on a stunt it is very easy to get seriously injured. She tries to manage this by listening to every correction her coaches give to her and applying them to what she is doing. The best advice Abigayle says she was given is to take advantage of the opportunities she has been given. Her team was able to go into the gym at any given time and she took all of those opportunities to better herself. Abigayle is going to do great things in her future!
