Padres, Michael King trade ‘remain in play’: 5 landing spots
SAN DIEGO (BVM) – Michael King looked like the top piece the San Diego Padres received last season from the New York Yankees in the Juan Soto trade. The righthander was a full-time starter for the first time in his career and finished the year with a 2.95 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP.
He placed seventh in the NL Cy Young voting.
King will be an unrestricted free agent after the 2025 season and it appears San Diego is already preparing for it. The 29-year-old, along with Dylan Cease, “remain in play” for a trade according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal.
The Padres should have many suitors for a talented pitcher on a cheap contract for 2025.
