Meet youth KC Fire Track Club member, Liberty Oaks student Jacob Salzman

LIBERTY, Mo. — My name is Jacob Salzman, I am ten years old and attend Liberty Oaks. I just qualified for the AAU nationals as a first-year long jumper for KC Fire Track Club. In the Fall I play football for the Sharks and also play basketball, soccer, and practice Jiu Jitsu.

My goal is to work hard to get a little bit better every day while still having fun. My biggest challenge is managing my anxiety, my track coach Jason works with me on breathing and focusing on the task ahead of me. Sometimes I replay advice from my coaches in my head, some of my favorites are “what you choose to be is what you think to be” and “you can push through anything you put your mind to”.

Track is teaching me to move forward after making a mistake, I am learning to take a breath, refocus, and just keep going.
