Cane Bay’s Kameron Durant preparing for East Carolina
SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (BVM) — As one of the top 30 football prospects in South Carolina, Cane Bay senior Kameron Durant has shown the nation he is a special player. And in 2022, Durant will aim to prove that as he seeks to help lead the Cobras back to the playoffs.
Last season, the 6-foot-4, 315-pound lineman helped lead the Cobras to a winning record for the first time since 2020. They finished with a 9-3 overall record but fell to Dutch Fork in the second round of the state playoffs. Despite not winning a state title, Cane Bay’s offense produced 1,996 yards. With Durant back for his senior season, the Cobras will aim to replicate or even improve that mark.

Following his senior season, Durant will be ready to move forward with his football career at the collegiate level. Durant’s journey will take him to East Carolina University. Durant is currently ranked as the 117th-best interior lineman and the 30th-best player in South Carolina in the Class of 2023 247Sports’ composite rankings. Durant committed to ECU in July 2022 and was the fourth Pirate commit for the Class of 2023.
Along with a future career on the gridiron, Durant has also excelled in other sports like track and field. During his junior year, he threw the shot put 41 feet, 10 inches. He also threw the discus 110 feet, 1 inch. Durant also set his personal best in the shot put when he recorded a mark of 43-0.
It is sure to be an exciting time when Durant officially joins ECU. And when he finally puts on the purple and gold, he’ll likely make every effort to help the Pirates and head football coach Mike Houston win the American Athletic Conference (AAC).
