Gokpinar wins the UTR Shootout – Stillwater

STILLWATER — Haydar Gokpinar captured the UTR Shootout – Stillwater title early Sunday afternoon as part of a strong fall debut from the Oklahoma State men’s tennis team. Gokpinar, a sophomore from Hatay, Turkey, went a perfect 4-0 over the two-day event. After cruising through his first two rounds, he survived a third-set tiebreaker against teammate Hank Trondson in a Sunday morning’s semifinals, 6-1, 5-7, (10-7) before knocking off Cowboy sophomore Christopher Thies in the final, 6-1, 2-1, ret.
