Get to know Pleasant Grove area fitness trainer Angie Weiler

PLEASANT GROVE, Utah — Angie Weiler is a mom of three and PTA president at Valley View Elementary in Pleasant Grove.

Though she’s successful and happy now, she comes from a past of unhealthy habits that led to an unhappy self-image.

About two years ago she “laced up her Nikes” and started setting goals. She got a personal trainer, and now she herself is a health trainer and nutritionist living her best life.

Angie mostly works with women. She hopes to help her clients feel confident in their health and goals. She felt that until the last couple years that she didn’t even know how to be happy with goals and health. But she found a great coach that got her into strength training and counting macros. Angie wants to be for her clients what her coach was for her.

Angie mainly focuses on weights and strength training as well as teaching her clients how to count macros. She says, “It’s hard for people to change their habits, but I get it, and I’m here to support people. I spent years breaking unhealthy habits.”

She’s overcome several challenges, both personally and as a trainer. She’s torn her ACL twice. “The second time I tore my ACL, I felt broken forever. But I slowly built myself up since the second time. We can overcome anything and end up stronger than before,” she said.

Angie recently ran a marathon. Her goal was to run for speed. She said, “It taught me that I can set a goal, and I can achieve it. So much of it is mental, and I’m so much stronger. I push myself beyond what I think I can do.” Since her journey began, she’s lost over 50 inches and lost 60 pounds!

The second obstacle she’s overcome is putting herself out there for her business on social media. Angie said, “My main goal of helping people is bigger than my fear of putting myself out there. It’s easier to be in my own scared bubble.” But she gets out there for her clients.

Angie says her favorite thing about being a health trainer is when it clicks for people and they make healthy changes, and they see success, even just a little. That’s where the fun is. Personally, she says, her favorite thing about strength training is how strong you feel. It’s so empowering. She also loves setting goals and reaching them.

The advice she’d give to any beginner “worker-outer” is the same advice she took herself:

“Don’t get overwhelmed with all the healthy changes you’re making, just start where you’re at. Don’t make a big list. Keep it simple. And when things don’t go perfectly the first time, because they won’t, start with one goal. Write down why you want to get healthy.”

Angie says, “ I think it’s important to change the narrative of “get skinny” and change it instead to “get healthy.” For those who lack even the desire, she says to give it five minutes. “By the end of that if you want to, keep going. But if you stop there, then at least you’ve done something.”

In addition to health and personal training, Angie loves being with her family. They love hiking and playing in the mountains. She loves to read, and watch a show. She loves volunteering at Valley View Elementary where her kids go to school.
