Whether it happens this season or next season, VAME gymnastics has its sights set on a top-five finish at state.
Pete Walker, a William & Mary alum who was involved in gymnastics as both a student and a coach at the college, and his wife, Cindy, own Williamsburg Gymnastics. The couple are spearheading a social media campaign to help save William & Mary’s gymnastics program after the college cut the program.
The College of William & Mary announced its plan to discontinue seven varsity athletics programs following the 2020-21 school year. The programs that will be affected are men’s and women’s gymnastics, men’s and women’s swimming, men’s indoor and outdoor track and field and volleyball.
Having discovered her talent at age 4, Kansas City gymnast Tessa Brocker, 10, has the focus, drive and determination to spend another eight years training to nab a spot on the U.S. National Team to compete in the 2028 Olympics.
Middletown, Del. native Morgan Hurd was hoping her hot start to 2020 would get her on the USA Gymnastics team for the Tokyo Olympic Games, but her quest will have to wait until 2021.
