Nevada’s Bosetti earns Mountain West Player of the Week recognition

RENO, Nev. (BVM) – After three multi-hit games and a weekend sweep of San Diego State, Nevada infielder Tyler Bosetti earned his first Mountain West Conference weekly honor Monday.

The redshirt junior went 8-for-14 (.571) at the plate and slugged an eye-popping 1.571 over the weekend series. His eight hits, nine runs and eight RBIs led the Wolf Pack in their three-game set with the Aztecs, and he shared the weekend lead in home runs (four) and triples (one). Bosetti’s play led to Nevada outscoring San Diego State 42-12 for the weekend, with each win coming by double digits.

A Vacaville, Calif., native, Bosetti posted three-hit efforts in the series opener and finale, and came up just a double short of the cycle in the Wolf Pack’s 14-4 win on Friday. His three-run homerun highlighted a 10-run fifth inning during Saturday’s 13-2 win and his two homers locked up a 15-7 win on Sunday to complete the sweep.

Monday’s announcement marks Bosetti’s first conference weekly honor of his career, and the second this season for the Wolf Pack, following Dario Gomez’ recognition three weeks back.

Nevada’s (15-16, 12-9 MW) seven-game home stand continues this weekend with a crucial series against first-place UNLV (16-8, 11-7 MW) at Peccole Park. The three-game set begins on Saturday.
