Myles Burkett First Team All-State selection

FRANKLIN, Wis. (BVM) — With both the fall and alternate fall football seasons over, the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association announced the all-state teams last week.

Among the players to receive first team honors was Franklin High School junior Myles Burkett. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound quarterback threw for 1,236 and 11 touchdowns while rushing for another 180 yards and a touchdown in just five games this year. The Sabers went 5-0 in those games.

Burkett has been the starting quarterback for Franklin since his sophomore year. He currently is a three-star dual threat quarterback prospect for the Class of 2022 according to 247sports. However, an MCL injury during his sophomore season gave him the opportunity to focus more on his pocket passing.

That focus paid dividends this season as shown by his impressive passing numbers through just five games. These past two seasons have been enough for the University of Wisconsin to offer Burkett a scholarship and on Jan. 30 he became the first Badger commit for the Class of 2022.

Burkett will become the first in-state quarterback to receive a scholarship from the University of Wisconsin since Tyler Donovan in 2003. But before he becomes a Badger, he has one more year as a Saber where he will look to add another first team all-state selection to his name and hopefully even more accolades.
