Seth Borondy’s massive game leads Bellbrook football past Franklin

BELLBROOK, Ohio — Seth Borondy led the Bellbrook Golden Eagles to a season-saving victory over the Franklin Wildcats Friday night. Bellbrook’s running back put together a performance that will be hard to top this season.

The senior running back rushed for 356 yards and three touchdowns on 25 attempts against Franklin. Borondy broke touchdown runs for 21-yards, 70-yards, and 78-yards Friday night. Heading into the game against Franklin, Seth Borondy had rushed for 420 yards and five touchdowns on 86 attempts.

Seth Borondy came within four yards of scoring four touchdowns against Franklin. Borondy now sits behind Elijah Jackson in the SWBL rushing leaders with 776 rushing yards.

Seth set a career-high in rushing yards against Franklin. Borondy currently holds the second-most rushing yards in a single game for the Southwestern Buckey League. Elijah Jackson has the most single-game rushing yards with his 403-yard performance against Western Brown.

The Bellbrook Golden Eagles now head into a critical matchup against the Waynesville Spartans Friday night. Waynesville is heading into Friday night’s matchup, coming off a tough loss to Eaton. The Spartans gave up 252 passing yards and four touchdowns against Eaton, and that could be a sign that Bellbrook may air the ball out more.

Waynesville’s loss dropped their SWBL record to 1-1, making Friday night a battle for second place. The Golden Eagles are heading into their meeting with the Spartans ranked 17th in Division III. In the recent Ohio High School Computer Rankings, Bellbrook is ranked third in Region 12

Bellbrook can set themselves up for a massive game against Monroe if they bring home a win against the Spartans. Monroe currently sits one spot ahead of the Golden Eagles in Region 12.

The Oct. 15 matchup between Bellbrook and Monroe will bring together the top two running backs in the Southwestern Buckeye League. Elijah Jackson and Seth Borondy will go head-to-head in a game that will bring fireworks.

The Golden Eagles travel to Monroe to determine the SWBL East Division, and that game could also choose the second seed in the Region 12 playoff bracket for Division III. Bellbrook will need to fight off the urge to look ahead over the next three weeks.

To set up the big game, Seth Borondy and the Golden Eagles will need to take care of business against Waynesville, Madison, and Oakwood. Bellbrook has taken care of step one by defeating Franklin Friday night, and now they must continue their win streak to make a strong push in the Ohio State Playoffs.
