5. Ira Harge
A JUCO All-American who transferred from Burlington Junior College (Iowa) to New Mexico for his junior year, Harge helped turn the Lobos into a successful program in the early 1960s. UNM went a combined 39-15 during his two seasons in Albuquerque with Harge, a two-time All-WAC selection, averaging a double-double both seasons. He set then-program records for points and rebounds in a season as a junior when he averaged 21.1 points and 13.2 rebounds.
The 6-foot-9 center would play 14 seasons in the ABA, averaging 10.3 points and 11.6 rebounds. Harge won an ABA championship with the Oakland Oaks in 1969.
Ira Harge won two championships in the ABA during his six years in the League. The first was with the Pipers in ‘68 and the second was with the Oaks in ‘69.
