Top 5 New Mexico Lobos basketball players of all time
3. Danny Granger
Granger transferred to UNM from Bradley following the first semester of his sophomore season and made a big impact for the Lobos when he was first eligible to play as a junior. The 6-foot-9 small forward was named the Bob King Team MVP after leading UNM in points (19.5), rebounds (9.0), steals (1.32) and blocks (1.41) during the 2003-04 season and followed that up with a stellar season in which he averaged 18.8 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.0 blocks and 2.0 steals while earning first-team All-Mountain West first team honors for the second straight year.
After being drafted by the Indiana Pacers 17th overall in the first round of the 2005 NBA draft, Granger, a member of the 2005-06 NBA All-Rookie Team, would go on to play 11 seasons in the pros, the first nine with the Pacers. He averaged 16.8 points over 586 career games and scored over 20 points per game for three straight seasons (2008-09 to 2010-11), the first of which was his lone All-Star season, during which he scored a career-best 25.8 points per game.
