Duke gains multiple commits from Oak Hill Academy in Christian Reeves and Caleb Foster
MOUTH OF WILSON, Va. (BVM) – The Duke Blue Devils men’s basketball team has consistently been able to recruit top players from across the country which has helped the program maintain its aura of near invincibility throughout the decades. One of the top high school programs in the country is Oak Hill Academy, a college prep boarding school located in Mouth of Wilson who has had such notable alumni as Carmelo Anthony, Rajon Rondo and Stephen Jackson to name a few. In 2021, it appears Oak Hill is once again stacked with high level talent and the Blue Devils have taken note as they were able to secure not one, but two commitments from Warriors standouts in 2022 recruit Christian Reeves and 2023 recruit Caleb Foster.

Foster was the first to commit back on Sept. 16 of this year. He is the more elite of the two as he ranks as the No. 9 overall prospect in the Class of 2023 in 247Sports Composite Rankings while also ranking No. 13 overall by ESPN. The 6-foot-3, 185-pound point guard was ranked as a unanimous five-star prospect and chose the Blue Devils over a number of other programs such as Illinois, Louisville, Stanford and Texas among others, despite the fact that legendary head coach Mike Krzyzewski is in his final season in Durham, North Carolina.
Reeves, the older of the two prospects, committed on Dec. 14, but did so shortly after getting the offer from the Blue Devils. He is a lower-rated player than Foster but he’s still among the best in the country. Listed at 7-foot and 238 pounds, the senior center is ranked as the No. 34 center in the nation and the No. 243 overall prospect in the Class of 2022. He joins one of the best recruiting classes in the entire country as he joins the No. 1 center Dereck Lively, the No. 1 small forward Dariq Whitehead, the No. 2 center Kyle Filipowski, the No. 3 power forward Mark Mitchell and the No. 8 shooting guard Jaden Schutt.

With such a strong class, it may be fair to wonder where Reeves will fit into the Blue Devils plans, especially with the nation’s top two centers in the fold. Well, according to Reeves himself his plan is not to play this next season, but rather to take a redshirt so he may first reach the court with his running mate Foster, who he has known and played with since seventh grade.

Currently, the Warriors are 13-6 after falling to Montverde Academy 60-55 in the City of Palms Classic title game on Wednesday. Both Foster and Reeves have played in every game with the junior guard leading the team with 4.4 assists a game while the center leads the team in rebounds per game with 7.3. Foster also leads the Warriors in steals per game with 1.3 while Reeves leads the team with blocks per game with 2.1 a game.
The duo are also among the leading scorers for the Warriors this season. So far, Foster sits at fourth on the team in points per game with 9.7 while Reeves is sixth with 8.7 points.
With the pair set to bring their skills to the hardwood in Cameron Indoor Stadium in 2023, both will look to continue the success the Oak Hill program has had at the Division I level. The Blue Devils will look to fit the two alongside the rest of their strong recruiting classes as fans hope the Warriors connection will bring even more wins to Durham in the future.
