Bellbrook Football Alumni Association inducts five members into Gridiron Greats
BELLBROOK, Ohio — This year the Bellbrook Football Alumni Association will induct its sixth class of Gridiron Greats, which includes Daryl Stanley (1971 graduate), Eric Noble (1992), Eric Dearth (1999), Chad Clemens (2005) and Kevin Basinger (head coach).
Kevin Basinger served as head coach at Bellbrook from 1997-2015 and is the program’s all-time leader in wins (119-80 record at BHS). Basinger’s teams produced six playoff appearances and his 1999 squad (the second in school history to go 10-0) ended Valley View’s 73-game regular season win streak. Basinger owns a 151-87 career record over 23 years, including four at Greeneview (10-0 team in 1996).
Chad Clemens is a 2005 BHS graduate that was a three-year starter at linebacker and two-time All-SWBL selection. He owns 292 career tackles. Clemens played collegiately at Ohio University where he earned four letters, racked up 121 tackles (including a team-leading 75 in 2010) and played in two bowl games (Little Caesars Bowl and R&L Carriers Bowl).
Eric Dearth is a 1999 BHS graduate who doubled as a standout linebacker and fullback. A three-year starter and three-time All-SWBL selection, Dearth was team captain as a senior. Dearth played in 47 games and started the last 43 at the University of Dayton where he was team captain as a senior. A three-time All-Pioneer Football League honoree, Dearth had 229 career tackles, 42 TFL, 21.5 sacks and nine forced fumbles as a Flyer. He was recognized as a CoSIDA and Division I-AA Academic All-American as a senior.
Eric Noble is a 1992 BHS graduate who led the Eagles to the first undefeated season in program history (10-0) and a No. 2 ranking in the final 1991 D-III state poll as a senior quarterback. Noble starred at Wilmington College where he had 682 completions, 9,260 yards and 62 touchdowns. A Wilmington HOF inductee (2009), Noble was the first Wilmington quarterback to pass for more than 3,000 yards in a season. His 341 total yards per game in 1994 ranked No. 2 in NCAA Division III.
Daryl Stanley is a 1971 BHS graduate that was a two-time team Offensive MVP and two-time All-Dayton Suburban League selection at quarterback. Of note, Stanley ran for four TDs and threw for another in a 42-12 “upset” win over undefeated Valley View in 1970. He was also the starting quarterback when Bellbrook played its first home game under the lights on Sept. 26, 1969 (a 38-16 win over Xenia Wilson).
To date 25 players and coaches have been inducted into the Gridiron Greats. BHS began playing football in 1964.
The Bellbrook Football Alumni Association will open the 2022 campaign on Saturday, July 30th with its annual Football Alumni Season Kick-Off Dinner and Golden Eagle Gridiron Greats induction event at Sugar Valley Golf Club. Festivities begin at 6 p.m. The guest speaker is former Clemson player Ronny Delusme. Tickets are $50 each and can be purchased through Julie Bean ([email protected]).
