Nebraska football’s top 10 players of all-time
Grant Wistrom, Defensive End
Great defensive players make the game physical and set the tone for the rest of the team. If the team can stop the opposition, it’s smooth sailing the rest of the way. That’s why Wistrom is on this list. As a defensive end, the job is to disrupt the quarterback and push the o-line back and that’s exactly what Wistrom did. He ended his career with 26.5 sacks from 1994-1997. He also leads the category of tackles for loss at 58.5, one and a half better than Ndamukong Suh. Wistrom was a backfield threat and barely any offensive tackle could hold him.
