Cam Newton, Richard Dent among Atlanta’s top 10 NFL stars
9. Reshad Jones, CB, Booker T. Washington
The 34-year-old Jones is one of the more recent NFL players on this list, and had a strong career with the Miami Dolphins. Hailing from Booker T. Washington High School, Jones was one of the top secondary players in the country in his senior year, earning all-state and defensive player of the year honors. Jones stayed home for three seasons with the Georgia Bulldogs, making 206 total tackles and 11 interceptions across his college career. Deciding to forgo his senior season, Jones was selected in the fifth round, No. 163 overall, in the 2010 NFL Draft by the Dolphins. After a slow first couple of seasons, Jones emerged as a 16-game starter by 2012 and earned his first Pro Bowl nod in 2015 as he racked up career-highs in tackles (135) and interceptions (5), returning two of those for touchdowns. Jones quietly became one of the league’s better corners during the back half of the 2010s, making another Pro Bowl in 2017. His final season in the NFL came in 2019 as the 6-foot-1 cornerback finished his career with 776 tackles, 21 interceptions and six defensive touchdowns.
