Top 10 Indiana Hoosiers basketball players of all time
3. Steve Alford (1983-87)
At one time leading the all-time scoring list with 2,438 career points, Alford now holds claim to the second spot in program history. The Hoosiers sharp-shooter was the perfect fit for Bob Knight’s offense, helping lead the program to its last NCAA title in 1987. The historic seasons allowed Alford to lock down a first team All-American and All-Big Ten selection, and both the Big Ten Player of the Year and the Big Ten MVP awards. With an Indiana Mr. Basketball selection to his name coming out of high school, Alford nears the top of the list of in-state players to don the Crimson and Cream.
