“It has been an absolute honor to be the quarterback at Coastal Carolina for the past three seasons,” McCall said in a statement. “I have enjoyed it more than anything…putting on that teal jersey is a special feeling I never took for granted.”

McCall arrived in Conway as a two-star QB from Porter Ridge High School. He completed 50% of his passes and threw for over 3,863 yards and 34 TDs in his prep career. He also rushed for 3,003 yards and 41 TDs.
McCall continued his high-level production at the collegiate level. He passed for 8,019 yards and 78 TDs after redshirting his freshman year. Now with two years of eligibilty remaining, he’s decided to take chance on himself in the transfer portal and find a new home. Here are some potential landing spots for the former Coastal Carolina QB.
Liberty
Could McCall stay with a Group of 5 school? It’s possible as the Liberty Flames welcomed McCall’s former head coach Jamey Chadwell into the fold. Being in Chadwell’s system again would likely help him become the starter in 2023. And the college football world has seen reunions between former QBs and coaches work recently. Most notably Caleb Williams and Lincoln Riley at USC.
Auburn
Taking the field in the SEC would be a step up for McCall. He’d also have the opportunity to play for Hugh Freeze, who coached current Tennessee Titans QB, Malik Willis. Joining Auburn also means he would enter a competition with freshman Robby Ashford. But with Freeze, McCall could be the spark the Tigers are looking for.
Florida
The Florida Gators are searching for a new signal-caller after Anthony Richardson announced that he will be preparing for the 2023 NFL Draft and Jalen Kitna’s dismissal. McCall would be suitable for the role. However, four-star recruit Jaden Rashada is set to join the team next season, and there would more than likely be a battle for the starting role. If McCall can win the job, he could help the Gators become contenders in the SEC again.
NC State
The Wolfpack’s former starter, Devin Leary, is in the transfer portal. That means McCall may head North and represent his home state. However, Virginia QB Brandon Armstrong could reunite with Robert Anae, who was the offensive coordinator at UVA. McCall could fit right in if Armstrong decides not to join the Wolfpack.
Notre Dame
Notre Dame will likely be searching for a new QB with Tyler Buchner succumbing to injury and Drew Pyne entering the transfer portal. McCall may not have the starting job immediately if he heads to South Bend, but with three years as a starting QB, he has the potential to beat out Buchner for the job.
