6. Clark Gillies, LW (1974-86)
The Islanders selected Gillies with the No. 4 overall pick in the 1974 NHL Amateur Draft. He quickly became one of the toughest and most respected players in the NHL after recording 47 points in 80 games as a rookie. Gillies still ranks fourth in all-time points (663) for the Islanders.
His No. 9 was retired in 1996, and he entered the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2002.
