Ranking the top 10 New York Islanders players of all time
5. Bobby Nystrom, RW (1972-86)
Nystrom was selected with the No. 33 overall pick in the 1972 NHL Amateur Draft. He only played 11 games in the 1972-73 season but showed he could be relied upon in big moments. That moment, and arguably the most significant moment in Islanders’ history, came in the 1980 Stanley Cup Final when he scored the series-winning goal against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Nystrom is regarded as “Mr. Islander,” and the team retired his No. 23 in 1995.
