NFL teams with the longest active playoff win droughts
5 – Miami Dolphins and Washington Commanders
The Dolphins make this list in the second position thanks to their most recent loss. While Miami made the wild-card round in 2001, 2008, 2016 and 2022, it was unable to win in any of those contests. This all comes after a 27-0 loss in the 2000 AFC divisional round to the Raiders following the team’s 23-17 overtime win over the Indianapolis Colts in the wild-card round that year.
The Dolphins' last Super Bowl victory was on this day 49 years ago — repeating as champs by beating the Minnesota Vikings 24-7 at Rice Stadium in Houston. Miami lost to Washington and SF in the '80s. Washington hasn’t seen a playoff win since 2005, the fourth-longest active drought in the NFL. While Washington went to the wild-card round in 2007, 2012, 2015 and 2020, it was unable to get a win in any of those seasons. Their last victory came in the 2005 playoffs in a 17-10 wild-card victory over the Buccaneers, but they lost the next week to Seattle 20-10.
