Top 5 NASCAR drivers who could replace Kevin Harvick in 2024

4. Ross Chastain

Like Preece, Chastain is a young guy that has been around NASCAR quite a while already, beginning his time in the Truck Series back in 2011. He joined the Xfinity Series a few years later, and has earned two victories at that level, along with four total in the Truck Series. By 2019, Chastain made his full-time Cup Series debut with Premium Motorsports while maintaining his presence in NASCAR’s other two series. Two years later, he signed on with Chip Ganassi Racing and became a part of Trackhouse Racing in 2022 after they purchased Chip Ganassi Racing. Driving the No. 1 Chevrolet, Chastain had a special season, finishing second in the points standings after making the Championship 4 by riding the wall in the season’s penultimate race at Martinsville. Chastain collected two wins during the season, and the eighth-generation watermelon farmer celebrated both times by smashing a watermelon on the track and later eating it. He clearly brought excitement to the sport last season, and it’s evident how good of a driver he is. Another strong season in 2023 could make him a prime target that Stewart-Haas would try to lure away to fill Harvick’s spot. While it’s hard to see Chastain’s current team letting him go, it’s worth noting that his contract with Trackhouse is up at the end of this year.
