5. Brian Schottenheimer, Cowboys coaching consultant

Schottenheimer just wrapped up his first season in Dallas as a coaching consultant, but the long-time assistant has 12 seasons of experience as an NFL offensive coordinator. The Seattle Seahawks hired Schottenheimer as their offensive coordinator in 2018 and they went on to have the NFL’s top rushing offense for the 2018 season while quarterback Russell Wilson had a career-high 110.9 passer rating. Schottenheimer’s arrival in Dallas (which came after a season, 2021, as the Jacksonville Jaguars passing game coordinator) also resulted in an increasingly efficient rushing offense for the Cowboys which could be enough to result in a promotion. If the Cowboys want to hire their next offensive coordinator from within, Schottenheimer would be the guy.
