Only eight closing pitchers have been inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame, and the most recent was Lee Smith and Mariano Rivera in 2019. But with 256 votes (68.1%), he is close to becoming the ninth.
He was almost unhittable during his time on the mound when he recorded a career ERA of 2.31 and 1,196 strikeouts. Wagner still ranks sixth in all-time saves.
