Top 10 Florida State men’s basketball players of all time

6. Doug Edwards (1990-93)

Edwards comes from a basketball family, as both of his brothers, Steven and Allen, also played Division I college basketball and worked their way up to the pro level. However, Doug’s career may stand out the most, as he became a first round draft pick of the Atlanta Hawks in 1993. Prior to that, Doug was a pure scorer for some FSU teams that saw tremendous success as they transitioned to the ACC in the early 1990s. The 6-foot-9 forward showed his chops right away in Tallahassee, averaging 16.4 points in his first season. He would increase his average to 17 points and 18 points the following two seasons, also grabbing over nine rebounds a game both years. Each of those seasons, the former McDonald’s All-American was named second-team All-ACC as he helped the Seminoles to the Sweet 16 in 1992, and the Elite Eight in 1993. Doug remains sixth on Florida State’s all-time scoring list with 1,604 points and fifth in career rebounds with 788. His 121 blocks are also the 10th-most in program history.
