No. 11 (1949-present)

The No. 11 car has obtained quite the resume throughout NASCAR history, making it hard to proclaim one driver as the most significant of all time. From legendary drivers like Cale Yarborough, Ned Jarrett and Darrell Waltrip, to more recent drivers such as Denny Hamlin, the number has become synonymous with victory lane. With Yarborough and Waltrips’ three Winston Cup Series championships and Jarrett’s two championships in the No. 11 car, it’s tough to find a number elsewhere that has had a similar run of success across multiple drivers.

No driver has graced the No. 11 longer than current Joe Gibbs Racing standout Denny Hamlin. In 614 races, Hamlin has found victory lane 48 times including three signature wins at the Daytona 500. Yarborough had four career Daytona 500 wins, but only matched Hamlin’s three in the No. 11. Others to get behind the wheel of this car include Junior Johnson, Bill Elliott, Terry Labonte, Bobby Allison and Buddy Baker. The No. 11 has seen 2,128 races in NASCAR Cup Series history with 228 total wins and a record eight championships.
