NASCAR Cup Series’ best by car number: 20-29
No. 25 (1949-2015)
Unlike the other numbers on this list so far, the No. 25 is not currently active, and hasn’t been driven since Chase Elliott took the wheel for a handful of races in 2015. However, that doesn’t diminish its history in the sport. The car began on the track with four different drivers in 1949, a year that saw Jack White take the No. 25 to victory lane for the first time. Dick Linder would also earn three wins in the car the following year. However, that would be the last time the No. 25 saw victory lane until 1986, when Tim Richmond scored seven wins for Hendrick Motorsports.
Richmond earned two more victories in the car in 1987 before giving way to Ken Schrader who took over the No. 25 in 1988. Schrader would go on to earn four victories in the No. 25 through the mid 1990s, part of 21 wins the car has seen overall. Also earning 123 top fives and 340 top 10s, the No. 25 has changed hands a few times over the past couple of decades to the likes of Jerry Nadeau, Brian Vickers and Brad Keselowski.
