Top 10 Utah high school baseball players in Class of 2023
9. Malik Harris, P, Juan Diego Catholic
A key part of a state champion Juan Diego Catholic Soaring Eagle team, Harris stood out in a team loaded with talent. The 6-foot-5, 220-pound right-handed pitcher is ranked as the No. 14 prospect in the state by Perfect Game and the No. 8 player in the state by PBR.
Last season, Harris played well both as a hitter and a pitcher. As a batter, Harris hit .429 with 36 RBIs, 25 runs scored and six home runs. On the mound, Harris went 5-2 with a 4.45 ERA and 46 strikeouts and 17 walks over nine appearances. These performances earned the junior Class 3A first-team all-state honors.
Given his strong championship season, Harris attracted the attention of DI programs across the country. This included the University of Memphis, where Harris committed last February. Harris is again expected to have a strong season for the Soaring Eagle as he was selected to the PBR Utah preseason all-state team.
