10 teams who could make a Cinderella run in March Madness

(BVM) – Every year, the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament brings thrilling action thanks to star players, elite teams and down-to-the-wire matchups. One of the favorite parts for fans of March Madness, however, is the upsets.

Recently, it seems that every year there are double-digit seeds pulling off shocking upsets in their first-round matchups. A select few have gone on to the Sweet 16, Elite Eight and even Final Four, being dubbed as Cinderella teams.

Over the past two decades, there have been many teams that have shocked the world and made improbable runs to the Final Four, whether that be VCU in 2011, Wichita State in 2013 or perhaps most notably No. 11-seeded George Mason in 2006.

Fans have also been treated to a couple of Cinderella teams over the past two tournaments. In 2021, Oral Roberts stunned Ohio State in a first-round upset, and went on to beat Florida in the second round to reach the Sweet 16.

Last year, the Saint Peter’s Peacocks shocked everyone with an opening-round upset of No. 2 seed Kentucky, and continued to take the college basketball world by storm by later beating Murray State and Purdue to reach the Elite Eight.

It’s called madness for a reason, as anything can truly happen in March. In 2023, there are again several teams who seem poised to become the next Cinderella of the NCAA Tournament. Here are 10 mid-major programs who could end up making a deep run this March.
