2023 MLB season preview: AL Central

(BVM) – Last season, the American League Central was one of the most disappointing divisions in all of major league baseball.

The Kansas City Royals and Detroit Tigers each remained bottom feeders in the league with win totals in the 60s. Meanwhile, after a hot start and still entering September five games over .500, the Minnesota Twins faded to irrelevancy, finishing 78-84. Some of those September losses came within the division to the Chicago White Sox, who failed to live up to expectations following a 93-win season in 2021.

The team that did look strong from the AL Central was the Cleveland Guardians, who won 92 games and earned a trip to the ALDS where they pushed the Yankees to a five-game series.

Despite what happened last year, the AL Central figures to be improved in 2023, and much more competitive, with three teams vying for the top spot in the division. Here’s a look at how the AL Central standings could shake out this year.
