Returning back to Illinois is a complete stretch but the Illini are in a difficult place with the current guard position. Freshman Jayden Epps just entered his name into the portal making it another season for Brad Underwood where he loses a top-ranked guard. Combine that with the fact that the crown jewel of the Illini’s 2022 class in Skyy Clark recently transferred to Louisville and Illinois finds itself in a tough spot. With two incoming guards set to join the team from the Class of 2023, Underwood has to find a veteran option at the position and some familiarity might not hurt as he aims to get some of his new players up to speed.
