Ranking the top 10 Chicago White Sox players of all time
10. Shoeless Joe Jackson, OF, 1915-1920
Despite being one of the sport’s earliest superstars, Jackson is more known for his association with the Black Sox Scandal which got him banned from baseball after the 1920 season. But in his six seasons with the White Sox, he slashed .340/.407/.499 and during the World Series in question, Jackson led both teams with a .375 batting average and set a World Series record with 12 base hits (not broken until 1964). Jackson’s exclusion from the Baseball Hall of Fame is fiercely debated — especially since his .356 career batting average is the fourth highest in MLB history – but his place in White Sox history is solidified.
