Pittsburgh Pirates, 1962 (10)

Led by an impressive pitching staff highlighted by Bob Friend, the Pirates mix of pitching and hitting guided the team towards a scorching hot opening. Early series wins over the Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago Cubs and New York Mets had begun their perfect 10-0 start to the 1962 season. After sweeping the Mets the first time around, New York held on in the team’s second series following two early wins by the Pirates in the second go-around. Pittsburgh would go on to finish 93-68 but would eventually miss the playoffs.
