Montgomery was a standout defensive player for the Tigers and received first-team All-American honors after recording 49 tackles and nine sacks in 2011 and entered the NFL draft following a dominant junior year.

Selected in the third round, Montgomery had promise and looked to provide depth to Watt and Whitney Mercilus, but his tenure with the Texans lasted only months after he was cut along with two other rookies for violating team rules.
