5 standouts from the Oklahoma Sooners’ spring game

3. Dasan McCullough, LB

Like some others on this list, McCullough was in his first action for the Sooners, but has college football experience under his belt already after racking up 48 tackles and four sacks as a freshman at Indiana last year. He was a tremendous get in the transfer portal for Brent Venables, and showed why early and often on Saturday, making plays all over the field with three tackles and a couple of pass breakups in the first half. McCullough’s 6-foot-5, 230-pound frame and athleticism are likely to help him wreak havoc in opposing backfields all fall long, and alongside some of the other defensive players that impressed on Saturday, including sophomore defensive lineman Gracen Halton who had five tackles and two sacks, Ted Roof’s unit has the potential to be much improved in 2023.
