5 standouts from Notre Dame’s Blue-Gold Game
3. Gi’Bran Payne, RB
The offense looked solid throughout the Blue-Gold Game in large part thanks to Sam Hartman and a couple of emerging wide receivers, but Payne also deserves recognition as he looked sharp throughout Saturday’s contest. On 11 carries, the 5-foot-9, 195-pound running back racked up 51 yards, and had an impressive 30-yard scamper. Payne also added two catches for 14 yards. The sophomore didn’t see much action in his first year in South Bend, Indiana, but seems poised to this season alongside Audric Estime and Logan Diggs. As with all of these guys, it’s just one showing, but a strong spring has Payne in the mix to be a vital part of Notre Dame’s offense come fall.
