5 Big 12 freshmen softball players turning heads in 2023
(BVM) — With just under a week left in regular season play, the 2023 Big 12 softball season has been a fun one to watch. Oklahoma, the back-to-back defending NCAA champion, leads the conference with the only unbeaten record in conference play and just one loss in the season thus far. Will the Sooners remain undefeated in the powerhouse conference that is the Big 12?
Texas ranks second in the conference with an 11-4 record and has three of the top five Big 12 freshmen players on their roster this season. While these three players have helped the Longhorns remain near the top in conference play, the hope is that they will make a deep run in the postseason and potentially win their first NCAA championship after losing to Oklahoma last season.
The other two top freshmen hail from Texas Tech, even though the Red Raiders have a 4-11 conference record. Here are the conference’s top five freshmen performers of the 2023 season.
