“I have dreamed of becoming a professional basketball player and I’m going to continue to chase that dream by entering my name into the 2023 NBA Draft,” Nelson said in an Instagram post on April 18. The Devils Lake, North Dakota native has all the tools that NBA teams want in their big men: versatility, rebounding as well as defensive prowess, range and skill. In an evolving NBA where old-school post players are becoming extinct, Nelson could flourish. His age (21 years old) also leaves the door open for continued improvement. A strong combine showing could result in Nelson hearing his name called during June’s 2023 NBA Draft.
