Outlook for each non-1st-round QB of 2023 NFL Draft
No. 128: Stetson Bennett, Los Angeles Rams
One of the other surprises when it came to quarterback selections in the 2023 NFL Draft was the Rams taking Bennett towards the back half of the fourth round. A lot of experts projected Bennett wouldn’t be selected until the sixth or seventh round, if at all, but Los Angeles reached for a guy that clearly caught Sean McVay’s eye. The Rams are in need of young talent in their quarterback room with an aging and oft-injured Matthew Stafford. When he went down last year, they had to turn to the likes of John Wolford and Bryce Perkins, and the results weren’t pretty. Bennett is well known for his success at Georgia, throwing for 4,128 yards and 27 touchdowns last season as he led the Bulldogs to their second consecutive national championship. The 25-year-old’s passing ability in the pros is still up for debate, but he does bring a championship pedigree that should at the very least help him become a backup and spot starter in the NFL.
