Ian Martinez enters portal; 5 landing spots for sixth man
COLLEGE PARK, Md. (BVM) – Ian Martinez has already made history during his college basketball career as he is the first Costa Rican to play men’s basketball at a major university as he played for both the University of Maryland and the University of Utah over the past three seasons. This past season was Martinez’s best at the college ranks as he averaged 5.7 points, 2.5 rebounds and 0.6 assists while playing in all 35 of Maryland’s games, serving as the team’s sixth man.
Following his strongest campaign to date, Martinez is looking for a new home as he entered his name into the transfer portal on Thursday. With experience on an NCAA Tournament team and a desire to prove himself as a starter, Martinez could see many programs interested in his potential. Here are five possible landing spots for the 6-foot-3 guard.
