Ian Martinez enters portal; 5 landing spots for sixth man

The first option for Martinez, if he wants to earn more playing time, could be to go to a lower conference where he could be seen as a star player on the roster. One such landing spot could be NJIT.

While the Highlanders are coming off of a dreadful season in the American East, the team hired Grant Billmeier as head coach during the offseason. Billmeier spent the 2022-23 campaign as an assistant coach for the Terrapins and, depending on his relationship with Martinez, could try to persuade the guard to join his new program in New Jersey. While it may be a hard sell considering how much of a rebuild is likely ahead for NJIT, Martinez would get to reunite with a former coach while likely having a lot of playing time on the team.
