Charlotte Hornets dilemma: Scoot Henderson or Brandon Miller?

Charlotte Hornets dilemma: Scoot Henderson or Brandon Miller?

Who is Scoot Henderson?

Henderson entered the season as the clear-cut second-best prospect in this year’s draft. Many scouts believe he could even go No. 1 in many other years. But as the draft has gotten closer and closer, it has become more of a question if he will actually go No. 2.

The 6-foot-2 guard played his prep ball at Kell High School in Marietta, Georgia. Henderson broke the program’s scoring record in just three years and then decided to join the NBA G League Ignite team, foregoing his senior season. He averaged 16.5 points, 6.8 assists and 5.3 rebounds in 19 games this year.

The first thing that stands out about Henderson is how physically gifted he is. He will not turn 20 years old until February of his rookie season, yet he looks like a grown man on the court. He has already filled out his frame and possesses elite athleticism. Henderson will be one of the league’s best pure athletes the second he steps on an NBA court.

The most glaring thing that Henderson will have to work on is his jump shot. He shot a measly 27.5% from the 3-point line this past season. If he can even become close to an average 3-point shooter, Henderson could be a perennial All-Star. Maybe he can even be that without it.
