Top 5 WNBA Rookie of the Year candidates for 2023
3. Maddy Siegrist, F, Dallas Wings
Siegrist finished her career at Villanova as one of the best to ever wear a Wildcats jersey. As a senior, she nearly averaged a double-double with 29.2 points and 9.2 rebounds. Her ability to score is exactly what a short-handed Dallas team needs to start the season. Fellow rookie Lou Lopez Senechal is out for 6-8 weeks due to knee surgery and Diamond DeShields is also out with a knee injury. The injuries mean that the Wings may look to Siegrist to be a more serious contributor earlier than they might have expected which gives Siegrist the chance to establish herself as a legitimate scorer in the WNBA.
